The Chicagoland Thunderbirds is proud to be the headquarters for all of the Thunderbird lovers in the greater Chicagoland Area. We were established in 1982 as the Northern Illinois Chapter of Vintage Thunderbird Club International (VTCI) and are a not for profit organization registered in the State of Illinois.
Chicagoland ‘Birds’ really do have more fun! We host a variety of events throughout the year such as car shows, meetings, gatherings and overnight drives that take us all over the Tri-State area. There is definitely something for everyone!
Once you join the Chicagoland Thunderbirds, you’ll start receiving a copy of our monthly newsletter, the Bird Word. It features articles on upcoming events, technical tips, recent club activities, promotions and news-clips from other chapter newsletters.
The Chicagoland Thunderbirds has something for everyone. Whether you are male, female, a child, or a child at heart, our organization is very family friendly.
It won’t take long for you to realize there’s more to this ‘Bird’ than its feathers. We have a collection of some of the best Thunderbird brains in the Midwest. You’ll find a great group of friendly, knowledgeable people, willing to help each other over technical hurdles by sharing the experience of years and years of Bird watching and working on these vehicles. In addition to technical help, another benefit of joining the Chicagoland Thunderbirds lies in the access to numerous sources for parts, as well as local restoration and repair services. Should you be looking to buy your ‘Dream Bird’ or just need some parts, we have a lively exchange of members buying and selling items through our monthly newsletter.
The Chicagoland Thunderbird’s web site is your gateway to the wonderful world of Thunderbirds. Remember, behind every word or electronic link, stands a member of our club willing to lend a hand with any problem/question you might have with your classic, vintage, late model or retro Thunderbird.
The fee to join this wonderful club is $30.00 annually if you choose to have a paper newsletter. If you decide to have your newsletter delivered electronically, the dues are only $20.00 per year! Plus, as you participate in club activities and tell your friends and family about the great fun you’ve had, you’ll get $5.00 off of your annual dues for each new membership you bring to the club. You could end up having all of this great fun for free. You don’t even have to own a Thunderbird to enjoy all of the advantages of membership. If you do happen to own a ‘Bird,’ we welcome all years from 1955 to the present.
